Justice
- Demand complete institutional overhaul of organizations such as the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the Civilian Review and Complaints Commission for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and the National Security and Intelligence Review Agency.
- Increase support for victims of crime.
- Hold the Correctional Service of Canada to account for its treatment of all incarcerated people while supporting greater funding for prisons to ease overcrowding and inhumane conditions. “In 2022/2023, Indigenous adults made up 30% of admissions to provincial/territorial correctional services despite only accounting for 4% of the adult population in Canada in 2021.” – Department of Justice
- Encouraging alternative, culturally-informed release for non-violent offenders, while keeping violent offenders such as violent sexual offenders away from vulnerable people in our communities.
Healthcare and Public Safety
- Demonstrate greater respect and support for the education, knowledge, and experience of pharmacists, registered nurses, and other licensed healthcare professionals (depending on province/territory).
- Ease restrictions regarding the import of over the counter medications, supplements, beauty products, and unscheduled prescription-only medication, as oftentimes these regulations are outdated, misguided, or not based in science. People should have the right to choose which safe medication they want access to, rather than resorting to more harmful vices such as street drugs.
- Direct border officers to seize only illegal firearms, large shipments of legal firearms, child exploitative material, and counterfeit goods.
- All generic pharmaceutical manufacturers and distributors will need to be fully licenced as an exporter in their home country and comply with all relevant regulatory requirements.
- Workplace safety is crucial. We will advocate to increase medical staffing, training, education, and oversight to ensure no person is harmed, maimed, or killed at work or as a result of their employment.
Energy
- Nuclear
- Hydroelectricity
- Gas (Offshore drilling)
- Natural Gas
- Solar
- Wind
Rural and Remote Communities
- Promote road improvements and new road developments connecting rural and remote communities.
- Oppose any attempt to remove critical postal services in rural communities.
- Actively promote all initiatives to connect communities to reliable utilities, including year-round access to both safe roads and as well as safe, clean drinking water, and promote proper flood and fire management and prevention programs to protect communities from flood and fire damage.
Culture
- We are in a unique position to develop a robust Indigenous tourism sector, resulting in diversified sources of revenue across Indigenous communities. We intend to pledge our full support and ideas to develop the Indigenous tourism sector.
- Promote Indigenous cultural, social, and youth programs.
- Protect Indigenous and Francophone language rights.
- Respect burial grounds by establishing funds to both find where remains of any sort so that they may be treated with respect and dignity; and furthermore respect particular funeral requests by individuals and their families. Specific cemeteries ought to be made available for those who do who belong to a culture, religion, or philosophy which does not allow for cremation or non-traditional forms of burial.
- Establish national teams so our athletes can fly under their own flags and hear their own national anthems at the Olympics or during NHL games if they so choose, as well as working to establish facilities and prospects and build relationships with other sports organizations such as the International Ice Hockey Federation or during NHL.
- Revitalize the Royal Canadian Mint.
- End needless censorship of media, particularly Indigenous news, and promote more home-grown Indigenous media, Québécois media, and Canadian media as a whole.
Economy
- Address the housing crisis and ensure housing affordability is our top priority.
- Oppose increases to personal income taxes, sales tax, and small business taxes.
- Increase support for households with children headed by a single parent.
- Promote responsible economic development, create high-paying jobs, and train young people for in-demand careers.
- Our Party has ratified supporting a form of Universal Basic Income, this could easily be achieved by eliminating certain tax credits that would be made redundant as a result of a UBI program.
- Negotiate with the Government of the United States to allow Canadians to bring larger sums of cash, cigarettes, nicotine products, alcohol, perfume, electronic devices, and other goods across the border, duty-free, in exchange we will hope to see an increase in tourists from the United States once again.
- Work together with governments, political and religious organizations, economic stakeholders, and people of all origins to come to responsible solutions that will best safeguard the cherished traditions and customs of the Native people of this land.
Indigenous Reconciliation
- Abolish the Indian Act and implement stronger protections to traditional Indigenous communities with a clear and direct path to self-determination.
- Establish the first Indigenous Peoples’ Museum in Canada.
- Table legislation with the goal of enacting a law similar to the Indian Arts and Crafts Act in the United States, which punishes art misrepresented as “Native made” by up to five years in prison and up to a $1 million fine for companies caught passing off fraudulent Indigenous artwork, directly diverting sales revenue from legitimate Indigenous artists.
- Promote peace and dialogue between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people and communities, in addition to promoting understanding between all cultural and religious backgrounds.
- Establish and encourage Indigenous and culturally-centered institutions, such as hospitals and schools.
Political Reform
- Demand all new members of the Senate be elected.
- End the harmful legacy of hundreds of years of British colonialism in Canada by eliminating the Governor General and Lieutenant General systems, the Privy Council Office, the Canadian Heraldic Authority, the Monarchy of Canada, and any and all references and oaths, public or otherwise, to the Crown.
- Advocate for voters to take a more active role in deciding which proposals are important to them and would like to see implemented, while ensuring their equal right to express their opposition.
- Advocate for increased support for isolated, underprivileged, and rural communities across the country.
International Relations
- An end to ALL foreign military aid. Humanitarian aid ONLY.
- Strengthening relations with Indigenous peoples across the continent as well as all around the world.
- Petition the President of the United States to stop using military force on civilians, as our own Prime Minister at the time did in 2022, to stop raids from Immigration and Customs Enforcement if violent criminality is not suspected. San Bernardino’s Catholic community need not live in fear of going to Mass in person because parishioners were being detained and questioned by I.C.E.
- Support recognition of the right of all peoples to self-determination, particularly those affected by the complex legacy of the British Crown. This includes, but is not limited to – support for Palestine and Israel (notwithstanding the border and status situation), for a united Ireland where nationalists, loyalists and Irish Travellers can coexist, a peaceful and prosperous solution to the long-standing situations in Scotland, Wales, and Catalonia, and the stability of new countries are concerns for our party. We pledge our utmost support to all peoples who have been deprived of their right to a nation, a state and, in some cases, a rightfully earned seat at the United Nations.
- The borders between Russia and Ukraine must be negotiated fairly. (Including Transnistria, Romania, Moldova, and Gagauzia)
- Pursue a mindset of peace, truth, reconciliation and justice in post-conflict populations and understand the seriousness of the brutality of war, in which of course there are no winners in the end.
Electoral Reform
- Our Party is interested in electoral reform. We support ranked-choice ballots while maintaining the electoral riding system.
- Our Party is looking to lower the voting age to 16. This is to protect our youth ages 16 to 18 from the unique familial, legal, social, and tax situations, and the access to the government services situations which they are entitled.
Immigration
- Prioritize immigration based on the demands of the labour market. Instead of maintaining GDP growth a whole, we would much rather see higher GDP growth per capita. Essentially, the immigration system should not be based directly on the GDP of the economy, but rather provisions such as a Universal Basic Income scheme, an expansion of the Advanced Canada Workers Benefit, or even an overhaul of the Canada Emergency Response Benefit could be put into place to ensure the economy can sustain – at the very least – a decent standard of living for all workers. Low income workers come in many forms, such as the teenager working shifts at the local grocery store, the spouse who is on disability (if that spouse hasn’t lost their disability support payments or had them significantly reduced in the first place) and said spouse should not be penalized by the federal government for being married, for being separated, or for cohabitating, even when each of these situations vastly impacts said spouse’s income each month. What will happen if that spouse was trapped in a domestic abuse situation? The fact that so many people in this country feel forced to stay in a relationship due to the astronomical housing costs is beyond an outrage. We plan to join those openly peacefully protesting in the streets. Not ONE person in this country should feel FORCED to stay in an ABUSIVE relationship because of “housing prices”.
- Demand our government negotiate ways to ease restrictions of freedom of movement for Métis and Non-Status Indians with the goal of bringing these two legally recognized groups in this country into the Jay Treaty, or ideally a similar agreement that does not require 50% or more blood quantum, a provision written with the intent of slowly disenfranchising the rights promised to the children of Indigenous people with each passing generation. Indigenous people from Canada would have more economic opportunities in the United States and potentially beyond, if the federal government were to become interested in pursuing similar treaties with other countries such as Denmark, who continue to be responsible for most foreign affairs regarding Greenland. In this way, Canadian citizens with any Indigenous background, particularly the Inuit, would be able to live, work, and even immigrate to Greenland, Denmark, and its territories. Additionally, they could sign a similar agreement on the basis of the Sámi people with Norway, and even with Sweden and Finland. This, combined with the Svalbard Treaty, could at the very least extend immigration protection to those with Indigenous heritage across most of the North Atlantic.
- Prioritize an expedited immigration process from countries on this continent such as Mexico, Guatemala, Peru, Haïti, Brazil, Bolivia, Dominican Republic, Panama, Guyana, Colombia, Argentina, Uruguay, Chile etc., particularly those coming from an Indigenous background.
- Defend sovereignty and oppose authoritarianism, sectarianism, and assimilation.
- Advocate for autonomy for all Nations and peoples across the country and the wider world.
- Increase rights and representation for Métis and NSI individuals and communities, and promote good-faith negotiations between groups.
Environment
- Our party supports the Kyoto Protocol but opposes carbon taxes on consumers and small businesses.
- Wildlife must be protected from the encroachment of suburbs.
- Invest in improving infrastructure in areas at risk of wildfires and flooding, especially rural and/or remote communities.
- Petition for greater funding and cooperation for MSC and NOAA.
Transportation
- Canada Post is a crucial public service and service should be reliable and available to all regions of the country. As a public service it should not exist to turn a profit, but measures can and must be made to keep the deficit and properly managed and under control.
- That being said, perhaps it would be beneficial to diversify by further opening up the market to other carriers, some of these couriers jurisdictions may not necessarily have to serve all of Canada. If it is truly running at an abysmal loss, then the private sector couriers will have to pool together at least some of the difference.
- We will work towards increasing domestic vehicle production so as to get the best value from both the international used and domestic new vehicle markets.
Sovereignty, Separatism and the Canadian Confederation
- While we recognize, and fully appreciate, the various and diverse opinions of both Party members as well as non-members, one of the primary goals of the Party for National Reconciliation is to promote positive relations between Indigenous communities, groups, and peoples, as well working to build better relations with those who are not Indigenous.
- It is of the current opinion of the Party for National Reconciliation that Alberta “sovereignty” is ill-advised, and that the primary focus of an independent Alberta will be oil and gas extraction, and not respecting Indigenous lands and treaties. As such, and as was clearly expressed by our dear Chiefs, our Party is not in support of Albertan separatism at present. The government of the of Alberta would need to uphold the strictest of standards in order for an independence movement to have our support. Furthermore, Alberta is not a historic nation with a unique heritage.
- Despite this, the Party for National Reconciliation, at least for the time being, pro-Québec sovereignty. Let us explain. Also, if you are a Party Member, you have the right to dissent – meaning that we are just as pleased with you should you belong to another political party, as well as ours, if you wish. Our factions continue to grow. Furthermore, it is the opinion of the Party for National Reconciliation a that the single most viable means for the Indigenous people of Québec of getting out of the Indian Act is to team up with the Bloc Québécois to some degree. In 2006, Prime Minister Stephen Harper declared Québec as a nation united within Canada. Québec has a distinct society as do Indigenous peoples. There are hundreds of Nations in English Canada. We will continue to fight for the Francophone minorities in English Canada and will also continue to hold the government of Québec accountable to allow Indigenous people to choose whether they want to speak French, English, or better yet their own languages, free from intimidation of any sort. As a result of the politics of René Lévesque, the Parti Québécois (established in 1968) as well as the Bloc Québécois (established in 1991), resulted in monumental agreements such as the Paix des Braves in 2002. This is not an unpopular opinion amongst most Indigenous people in Québec, with the exception of some Mohawks who have legitimate concerns over their freedom of movement. We must work together, despite our differences during the Beaver Wars and La Conquête. We must remember what our ancestors intentions were when they signed the Great Peace of Montréal.
- If the independence of Québec was achieved, our Party, along with our associated organizations, would fight tooth and nail to ensure that it is a plurinational republic and that Indigenous rights are significantly expanded compared to Crown domination in English Canada. Furthermore, we will continue our fight to the very end to help Indigenous Nations achieve the autonomy that is desperately needed, from the Atlantic – to the Pacific – to the Arctic. Our Party wants to represent YOU and your community, regardless of political boundaries and lines.
- In keeping in line with our mission of Indigenous representation and dialogue, our Party does not actively advocate for any independence movement. The purpose of this political party is to advance the rights of Indigenous individuals and communities
- Our Party fully supports a responsible re-organization of northern Québec (Nunavik in consultation with Cree people and communities); Labrador (Nunatsiavut in consultation with Innu Traditional Lands); North-West Territories and Yukon Territory (Inuvialuit Nunangit Sannaiqtuaq); or re-organisation of Nunavut or any similar arrangement in order to further our Party’s mission to easing the concerns of the Inuit not only living in the borders of Canada, but to also advocate for a Pan-Inuit identity for Inuit people who live and work in their homelands in Alaska, the Chukchi Peninsula in Russian Far-East, and the Party for National Reconciliation would of course respect any and all support for independence, greater autonomy, including forming a united organization with Greenland (Kalaallit Nunaat).
Armed Forces
- Demand a full inquiry into the practices, structures, and individuals in the Royal Canadian Military, the Royal Canadian Air Force, the Royal Canadian Navy, among others, and demand full public inquiries and unredacted reports to give families of those victimized and killed, both military and non-military, either due to institutional failures or by members of these organizations themselves, and to see justice served.
- Prevent encroachment of, and prevent toxic conditions and substances of those both currently serving, and to seek justice for those service members who have been impacted by said toxic conditions and substances, poor wages given to them, as well as the nearby communities impacted.
- Prevent military expansion near Indigenous communities and lands.
- Utmost respect for those all who decided to enlist, in particular those who had entered the Canadian Armed Forces prior to 2022, when Indigenous people, were deprived the right to wear long hair, a custom our ancestors have practiced for generations – since time immemorial. In addition to this, cutting hair is very traumatic for Indigenous people as in most Indigenous cultures, long hair is a sign of vitality and strength. Today, as a result of the impacts of the Canadian residential school system (such as forced haircutting), long hair continues to be a symbol of strength for many Indigenous people who have made the decision to enlist in the Canadian Armed Forces.
- Increase support for Veterans and improve conditions of those currently serving, including the Reserve Forces.
