Who We Are

If we don’t stand for something, we stand for nothing.

What do we mean when we say we strive for meaningful change?

The Reconciliation Party is based on respect for the heritage of all people who live on this land. We are a genuine grassroots party and seek to draw support from all backgrounds and ways of life. Our motto is “We cherish all people on this beautiful land we call home.” Living on this continent is such a blessing, from the northernmost islands of Nunavut right down to the tip of Ushuaia, ultimately, we are all a common people with similar heritages. No matter your background, this is your home, and we will work together to build an equitable society in which we can all live in harmony, love each other, and achieve the post-colonial society that so many of our ancestors could have only ever dreamed of.

We believe all Nations, ethnicities, and cultures are cherished gifts from our Creator.

Our Party Seal

Our seal is derived from the mark of a Thunderbird left by Potawatomi Chief Onanguice, who signed this mark on behalf of the Mississauga people during the Great Peace of Montréal in 1701. We chose the Thunderbird as it holds such a deep significance to many Indigenous communities, including the Potawatomi and Mississauga. The Thunderbird represents a promise of protection and peace. The Great Peace of Montréal was a significant event aimed at establishing peace between Indigenous nations and the French. It was one of many signatures of a peace treaty which ended the French and Iroquois Wars (known to some as the Beaver Wars). The use of Chief Onanguice’s Thunderbird symbol underscored the cultural and spiritual importance all parties were committing to.

Our party colours are brown and turquoise.
